A Woodland Stewardship Plan (WSP), also known as a Forest Management Plan, is a document that provides information about the current condition of your woodlands as well as management recommendations based on your personal goals for the property.
There are many benefits of having an active Woodland Stewardship Plan for your property.
First and foremost, a stewardship plan provides landowners with management recommendations that are tailored to their vision for the property. People own their forest land for different reasons. We take pride in understanding a landowner's goals and incorporating that information into a stewardship plan.
Secondly, a stewardship plan provides essential information about your forest land. Landowners can expect to learn about the larger ecosystem that their property is a part of as well as site specific information such as soil types, tree and plant species, and forest cover types present. Maps and aerial imagery of cover types, or management units, are provided as well as estimated acreage, productivity, and stumpage. The information provided in a stewardship plan assists landowners in making sound management decisions.
Lastly, an active stewardship plan may qualify landowners for state programs that reduce property taxes or provide incentive payments to keep their forest land undeveloped.
